Washer and dryer cleaning products can be found on the same shelf with laundry detergents and are relatively inexpensive. Saw some the other day at Wal-Mart. Grocery chains have them, too.
Do the stains come off on clothes, or just look bad?
I've used a Magic Eraser with success.
Run washer with 1c vinegar and a splash of bleach in hot water, then fill tub with cool water and run again. Should be sparkling clean after that!
Pre-wash new denim inside out with warm water with 1 cup of vinegar and a cold rinse. Wash with other denim pieces. The vinegar sets the dye. ALWAYS wash and machine dry denim inside out. But the dryer is your enemy when it comes to drying denim, hang it outdoors if you can; inside out to prevent sun-fade. I live in a humid climate, I use a dryer... but keep the denim everted.
I have used commercial cleaners in washer which worked well the dryer I use magic eraser and a damp towel.. that has worked well for me
Simply use rubbing alcohol. You can soak your clothes in it (and rubbing alcohol won't harm colors). This is the best way to remove ink. It even works on Sharpie permanent marker and ink from ink pads. And yes, you can use it in the dryer....
I think she is asking about stains in the dryer not the washer. If it isn't wear causing this then the above idea of rubbing alcohol should work. Mine look like this but it is from wear as it is an old dryer and the white coat of enamel is wearing thin,
mine looks the same, doesn't come off on clean clothes, so I just ignore it.
It's the dye from jeans. Mine has the same issue. It has come of on other clothes. I will have to try the magic eraser and see if that works.
I once accidentally dried some crayons and had to spray my dryer with WD40 and throw some old rags/towels and run it a cycle and not only did that take the crayon off but it took the dye/ink from blue jeans off as well. However, you have to be extremely careful using that method since it can be flammable. I did mine on a low temp so it would be warm enough for the heat to help soften the wax but not hot enough to potentially cause a fire. This was before Magic Erasers lol
Nail polish remover. Tried everything else recommended for DIY cleaning and this is the one that worked! The others, not so much or not at all; all others definitely not worth the time.
Although it works so quickly, remember you might need ventilation depending on the location of your dryer and get someone with long arms to do it!
Unfortunately, I think your dryer is not stained, but the paint inside the drum is wearing thin, thus giving it that blue color. Mine is doing the same thing. I bought my set in 2010, and most appliances made today are made to last about 10 years. So sad, considering I have a refrigerator from 1996 that I keep in my barn for overflow, that went through a flood and has not missed a beat. Even more sad, is that refrigerator has outlasted three refrigerators that have been in my home. I'm now on the fourth refrigerator in 17 years. To say "they don't make them like they used to" would be an understatement!
Most dryers develop stains from denim. Some denim manufacturers even tell you that the dye will rub off on other items. I try to be careful after said items are dried while new, and be careful what I dry next. Eventually it just becomes a permanent stain, and have never had a problem with it coming off.

I would wipe the inside with white vinegar and paper towels.
I have a water heater that is 23 years old and doing just fine.The new ones only last 6 years. When they are under warranty anyone who installs them simply replaces the water heater with yet another crappy one. Same thing applies to furnaces and refrigerators. My clothes washer and dryer are at least 20 years old. Appliances you guy now are crap, sadly, all brands.
I have a well and every where water drips it will turn blue. The shower and bath tub has blue where the grand kids don't turn off all the way and it drips. Behind the tolet where the hose was dripping. It something in the well water. Maybe iron. Yes, my dryer has blue inside, too. It's really hard to get off. It doesn't come off on clothes . Have your water tested.
Try some lemon essential oil on a paper towel. Your next few loads of laundry will smell great also. If that doesn't work try nail polish remover.
Unless you are getting blue-like stains on items you dry in the dryer, I wouldn't worry about it. Our dryer was stained almost immediately after drying jeans from my husband and sons. Never had it mark anything else. I don't think the dryer police are going to be around to cite you.
When I dried my heavy cotton slipcovers they rubbed against the rope that separates the drum and the inside of the dryer in our Samsung front loading dryer. This rope is at the front and back of the dryer. i had to scrub my cording on 2 pieces three times. Since the dye was not coming off on towels or less heavy fabrics I finally used the dryer shelf and laid the pieces folded one by one. It took 2 days.
